Ngiyambandigay Wajaarr Aboriginal Corporation (NWAC) is an independent self-governing corporation with an aim to strategically reacquire, reclaim and rehabilitate Gumbaynggirr land, waters and sovereignty.
We exist to revitalise and reinstate our cultural life, ways and systems, heal traumas and create positive change throughout the Gumbaynggirr community.
The Gumbaynggirr nation's homeland is made up of sea country, mountain ranges, ancient escarpments, plateaus and valleys of the Great Dividing Range. These are home to Rainforests of World Heritage Significance which provide habitat for many threatened species.
The coast encompasses headlands, rivers/estuaries, coastal ranges, lowlands forests, as well as Sea Country extending to the Solitary Islands. These ecosystems, habitats and species are of International significance and are central to the cultural and spiritual values of the Gumbaynggirr People.
